What those sizes actually look like
Numbers lie; pixels don't. Here's the same dancing banana at each platform's real rendered size — notice how fast detail disappears. That's why bold pixel art wins chat.

Make one that survives the shrink. The Pixel Forge is a free in-browser pixel-emoji maker — draw on a small grid, animate frame by frame, export a transparent GIF at exactly the size your platform wants. Built by the creator of the original 1999 dancing banana, who has strong feelings about readable pixels.

Quick answers
What size should a Discord emoji be?
Upload at 128×128 pixels, maximum 256KB, in PNG or GIF format. Discord displays it at 32×32 in chat.
What size are Twitch emotes?
Twitch emotes require three sizes: 28×28, 56×56, and 112×112 pixels, as transparent PNGs under 1MB each.
Why do emotes need to be so small?
Emotes render inline with chat text, so platforms display them at 28–32 pixels. Designs with bold shapes and few colours — like pixel art — stay readable at that size.
